I am seeking information on Frank/Franklin MC CLURE and his ancestors. I know his father was in Lake County as early as 1850 because he was present at the Bloody Island incident. He then went back to Greenfield, Mo. where Frank MCCLURE was born about 1856. The Quantrill raids during the Civil War caused him to free the one slave he owned, give his freed slave his farm, and return to California by sea. Frank MC CLURE, at least, settled in Upper Lake where he married Luella Dewell in 1888. They lived out their lives in Upper Lake and Luella is buried rhere. Frank MC CLURE is buried in Lake County or Mendocino County. I will happily respond to all contacts.
Thank you.
Trying to Locate someone in LAKE Co. I wrote to Carolyn P. Michaels at 9495 Konocti Bay Road in Kelseyville. It was returned to me as undeliverable. I would like to submit my names for research in the Lake County. The last name is MEADOR and I am looking for any information regarding this family. Here is what I know so far about the CA line:
John W. MEADOR born 1800 VA; died 1862 in Chapel Hill, MO married Parthenia ADKINS and had one known child;
Goolesberry MEADOR born 1824 died 30 January 1911 married Drucilla YOUNG born 1823 in MO to John YOUNG and Sarah HOPPER. Drucilla died 2 September 1903
Goolesberry MEADOR came to the Santa Clara County in 1849 for the first time on a wagon train and made the trip one more time to gather his family. He returned to MO to gather his family and then came back out to Santa Clara Valley in 1857 in a wagon train for the second time. I understand that there were four brothers that came out together the first time. Two came to Santa Clara County and the other two went to Lake County. The Goolesberry MEADOR and Drucilla YOUNG had two known children, including;
Henryetta MEADOR born 12 March 1860 in MO married Thomas PATTEN who was born 1862 in Napa Co, CA and died 1964 Lakeport, Lake Co, CA. They had one known child;
Burdetta W. PATTEN born 19 March 1895 in Lake Co, CA married June Lorena CLENDENIN December 1917. June was the daughter of Luther P. CLENDENIN and Polly Jane. They had one known child;
Donlee B. PATTEN born 29 August 1925 in Lake Port, Lake Co, CA married Mary S. COCHRAN 21 December 1958.
Please contact me for more extensive information, or if you have information).
I am looking for information on Joel JENKINS who is listed in a number of Lake Co histories. I believe he is the J JENKINS who appears in the Lake Co 1870 Census. He is listed as being 70 Years old from NC. I have a Joel Jenkins who is listed in the 1860 census of NAPA. He is about the correct age and is from NC. He disappears from NAPA county and may be the same Joel Jenkins in Lower Lake but I don't know for sure. Any help would be appreciated.
I am searching for information on my grandfather, Frank Mc Clure, and his ancestors. I know he was born in Greenfield, Mo.about 1856. He married Luella Dewell 18, September, 1888, in Upper Lake, Lake County, Ca. They lived the rest of their lives there and are buried there. Luella Dewell was a daughter of Benjamin Dewell, who was the first settler at what became the town of Upper Lake. Frank Mc Clures father, first name unknown, came to California before the gold rush, possibly with the Grigsby/Ide party of 1845. His father was involved in the Bloody Island and other historical incidents in Lake and Mendocino Counties. He then returned to Missouri where Frank Mc Clure was born. He and family returned to California and Frank, at least, settled in Lake Co. I will happily respond to all replys.
Seeking information for Stephen PINER born 10 Dec. 1800/01 Virginia. Other researchers have given death date as 19 April 1889. Unfortunately, no one can tell me where this date originated or where Stephen is buried. This information has long remained a mystery. Somewhere, someone must have seen the date of his death - where? Stephen married Sarah H. HENDRICK, born 4 Feb. 1799 VA. Marriage date ca 1820/21 VA. Stephen married second a woman with the name of Miriam. No last name has been discovered, where and when they were married, and where she is buried. Should anyone provide any clue as to my questions I would be elated. Thanks.

SURNAMES: EVANS
I have a lot of information on Luke Evans. Family letters
indicate that Luke was so ill after release from Andersonville that they
didn't think he would survive but it seems he lead a productive life, finally
settling in Lower Lake about 1873. During the years he had been
employed as a tin smith, Real Estate Agent and Insurance Agent.
He was also a Notary Public and had been Secretary of a Masonic Lodge.
In 1892 he was 46 years old, living in Lower
Lake and occupation was that of Deputy US Mineral Surveyor.
In 1908 he was 62 years old, requesting a pension of $12.00 per month.
He was still living in Lower Lake in 1915.
I'd like to know the name of his wife. He married, April 29, 1875, Lower Lake, CA by J.N. Borroughs, Baptist Minister. Wife died March 29, 1887.
We plan to donate the family letters but would like to complete as
much research as possible before doing so. We feel people won't take
time to read them and so we are in the process of transcribing them first.
Your assistance would be greatly appreciated. Roberta
